Odds & Ends

Here is a bit of random information that doesn't fit anywhere else.

Domain Names

Currently, I own 6 domain names. Yes, I am a dork! The following are for sale:

  • www.pokerprose.com - At first, I intended for this to be a store selling poker t-shirts. Later, I thought I wanted to be a poker coach. Now it sits lifeless - make me an offer!
  • www.furnishare.net - Fact - Furnishare.com is taken, but not being used. Fact - With furnishare.net you'll have basically zero other competition for this keyword, and should be able to quickly dominate search engines.

My Old Site

If you missed the old www.ryanwanger.com, which pitched my skills in the realm of video game design, it's still floating around somewhere in cyberspace. Enjoy!

Ryan Wanger: Closet Technology Pundit

In early 2008, The Economist launched an online debate entitled: "This house believes that if the promise of technology is to simplify our lives, it is failing." Although I didn't know it until several months later (while googling myself in a momentary flash of vanity), out of hundreds of comments posted, the moderator specifically called out two in his closing statements. One was mine:

Thanks, too, to the guest contributors and the many people whose thoughtful views enriched this discussion. Every day has brought new insights. Among the recent gems I particularly liked Ryan Wanger’s observation that technology has made complex decisions more simple and simple decisions more complex.

In case you are curious, the other comment mentioned was from none other than lifestyle design pundit and author of the amazing book, The Four Hour Work Week, Tim Ferriss. Maybe this 15 seconds of fame could be my "in" if I ever happen to meet him. :-)

Why my young cousins still think I work for Nintendo

If you happen to have a copy of Pac-Man World 2 for Playstation 2 or Gamecube laying around your house somewhere, pop it in and take a look at the credits. You'll see my name in lights: Testers...Ryan Wanger! Or if you want to take the easy route, Moby Games lists my contribution, yet another 15 seconds of fame.

If you feel like giving...

My wife and I started this page collecting donations to build a library in Vietnam. Frankly, I need to do a much better job of promoting it. So if you ever need a cause to give to, this is as good as any. The gift of education and information lasts longer than any other type of aid. Plus, when it's finished, you have a great excuse to take a trip to Vietnam.

Where have I been?
